Still pinching myself…

Late last night, the finalists for the 2014 Derringer Awards were announced. I didn’t find out about the announcement until this afternoon and I was gobsmacked to learn that my story, “The Sweetheart Scamster” is a finalist in the best story—1,001 to 4,000 words—category.

Fellow Canadian Melodie Campbell (executive director of Crime Writers of Canada) was shortlisted in the novelette category for The Goddaughter’s Revenge. For the names and titles of all the finalists in the four categories, click here.

The Derringers are awarded annually by the Short Mystery Fiction Society for excellence in short mystery fiction. The entries are blind judged (the writers’ names were not on the stories) to make the shortlist, and SMFS members now vote on the winners. For those of you who are SMFS members, please go to http://shortmystery.blogspot.com/2009/05/derringer-awards-voting.html to read the stories and the read the instructions on voting. Polls close at the end of March.

AND if being a Derringer finalist wasn’t enough to have me grinning from ear to ear, I just learned that I’m Imajin Books’ No. 3 bestselling author. It’s posted on Imajin’s website.

I’m still pinching myself!
